Situatedness in Body: Writing as an Embodied Practise of Truth

Online Writing Sessions
October 2026 – January 2027

Our new three-year study circle at Nordic Summer University on Situated Writing as Feminist Philosophy/Practise is interested in building community around situated writing. Join us this autumn to collaborate in exploring each other’s voices around the theme of ‘Situatedness in Body: Writing as an Embodied Practise of Truth’. Sign up using this form.

The Plan

On the first day of each month we will share a short prompt with all the people who signed up. This can be an image, some music, an excerpt from a book. We ask each participant to respond to this prompt in writing from an embodied perspective. We ask people to send in their response, in the form of a text written by them (no AI please), in a language of their choice. Towards the end of the month we will have an online session where we will read the texts that were send in out loud, everyone is asked to pick a text that was written by someone else. There will be no discussion or conversation online, also not at the end of the meeting. This is to create a space focussed on the encounter of situated bodies and situated writing, emphasising listening and sharing.

Sending in a text beforehand is optional. Joining each month is optional. Reading a text out loud when you join the online meeting is optional. This is to say: you can join even when you’ve missed earlier sessions, when you don’t feel comfortable sharing your own writing, or when you don’t want to read out loud. Please be aware that although the working language for this project is English, this will not be the first language for most of the participants.

Please be aware that by joining this project, you agree that your contributed text(s) will be shared among the participants and during the online meeting. Our aim is to publish a collective work using the texts contributed, once we get to that stage we will ask contributors whether they are interested in having their texts (anonymized if they prefer) included.
