Welcome to the Nordisk Sommeruniversitet, a.k.a. Nordic Summer University, Nsuweb.org (the “Website”).

This Website is brought to you by Nordiskt Sommaruniversitet, a.k.a. Nordic Summer University (“NSU”, or “we” or “us”) and all rights in the content of the Website are owned or controlled by NSU. NSU and its affiliates provide access to the Website and sells its products or services to you subject to the Terms and Conditions set out on this page. NSU collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User” or “Participant”) of this Website according to the Privacy Policy set out on this page. If you have any comments or queries relating to this Website, please contact us.

The organisation also provide as “Data processor” and “Data controller” under GDPR. I you have any questions regarding your privacy in relation to NSU, or other requests such as receiving an export of your personal data or your personal data to be deleted from any database, you may also contact us. Currently requests relating to GDPR on exports and deletions in databases are executed by Set Lonnert which can be contacted through: info@nsuweb.org.

Participant Policy for Summer Session

This Participant Policy governs the manner in which Nordiskt Sommaruniversitet, a.k.a. Nordic Summer University (“NSU”, or “we” or “us”) collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User” or “Participant” or “Accompanying Persons”) of the Nsuweb.org website (“Site”). The arrangement committee (“Arrkom”) organizes the Summer Session. You may participate in the Summer Session as Participant together with Accompanying Persons such as Your family. The Participant Policy applies to all Accompanying Persons and Participants that you bring along. Further, the policy makes conditions on participating at the NSU Summer Session and the application of participating. This participant policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by NSU for the Summer Session.

  1. Insurance
    As participant ensure before you participate, that you have adequate insurance for you and where it is applicable accompanying persons (e.g. your entire family), during the whole Summer Session. Usually home insurance cover incidences such as theft or accident. Children must be covered by a children’s insurance during the Summer Session. Insurance isn’t required, but strongly encouraged; ask your insurance company. NSU will not take any insurance liability for participants or accompanying persons during the Summer Session.
  2. Contact with Children Circle
    If You bring children: contact the person responsible for the Children Circle, and give information with regard to allergies, ability to swim, and medication. If possible also inform the Children Circle of Your mobile phone number and who to contact in case of emergency during the Summer Session.
  3. Student grant
    The application for a student grant implies that you as a participating student is expected to be of assistance to the Arrkom during the Summer Session.
  4. Excursion
    You must choose an excursion at the point of payment, or none at all. Choose to add as many excursions as you bring individuals, participants or accompanying persons, pairing the right category for each individual.

Terms and Conditions of Sale

Please carefully read these Terms and Conditions before purchasing any NSU products or services on the Website. By purchasing NSU products or services on the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

  1. Your Account
    You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer to prevent unauthorised access to your account. You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. You should take all necessary steps to ensure that the password is kept confidential and secure and should inform us immediately if you have any reason to believe that your password has become known to anyone else, or if the password is being, or is likely to be, used in an unauthorised manner. Please ensure that the details you provide us with are correct and complete and inform us immediately of any changes to the information that you provided when you registered. NSU reserves the right to refuse access to the Website, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders at its discretion. If we cancel an order, it will be without charge to you.
  2. Privacy
    Please review our Privacy Policy, which also governs your visit to the Website, so you understand how NSU uses your information.
  3. Our Contract
    When you place an order to purchase a product or service from the Website, we will send you an email confirming your order (the ‘Order Receipt Email’) and containing the details of your order. Your order represents an offer to us to purchase a product or service which is accepted by us when we send an email to you confirming that we have accepted the order (the ‘Order Confirmation Email’). Such acceptance will be complete at the time we send the Order Confirmation Email to you. You are seeking to enter into a contract with NSU when you place an order. This contract is legally binding when you have placed an order, your order has been accepted by us and we have sent you the Confirmation Email. NSU will retain the title in the products or services until full payment has been made by you and has been received by NSU. Payment terms are specified in the Website cart according to the payment method. The crediting of invoices due to mistakes in the invoicing information that you have provided will incur an administrative charge of 250 SEK.
  4. Deliveries
    Services
    Deliveries of services (e.g. such as an accommodation or excursion) is considered as the use of the service as specified. For our control make sure you can identify your purchase with the confirmation of your purchase at the time of delivery/consumption. A service may not be delivered or consumed at a later time as specified originally, unless explicitly stated that it may.
    Complaints on a delivered service may be put to the relevant part of the organization of NSU. Complaints should include description on the service, dates, individuals concerned, and other relevant information. In case there is a claimed refund, additional information must be added such as the amount and bank details. The complaints and claims are individually decided and judged by the relevant part and the board of NSU. See further on our policy of Refunds, below.
  5. Refunds
    Services
    If for any reason you are not happy with your order, please follow our Cancellation or Exchanges Policy detailed below, so that we can assist you in the exchange or refund of your order.
    A. Cancellation or Exchange
    You may exchange or cancel your order before the last day of cancellation. Last day of cancellation is 1st of June. After that day it is not possible to cancel or exchange your order, and no refund will be given.
    All cancellations will be charged with a fee of 250 SEK. The rest of the total amount will be refunded.
    If you wish to exchange a service, please note that you may be required to pay an additional sum if the replacement service is more expensive that the original service purchased.
    Services offered by NSU is not deemed to be applicable to the EU Distance Selling Regulations1 (see below).
    B. How do I exercise my right to cancel?
    In order to exercise your right to cancel, please:
    a) send an email to info@nsuweb.org; or
    b) use the web form for cancellation at this site;
    making it clear in your correspondence that you are giving notice to exercise your right to cancel.
    Your email or use of form will be deemed to have been received by us on the date you send it (provided it is sent to the correct address and it is sufficiently clear that you are exercising your right to cancel). Please try and keep the confirmation of any use of form or email to demonstrate the date when you sent it.
    C. Conditions for All Refunds, Exchanges or Right to Cancel
    You have no right of withdrawal, if you cancel after the last day of cancellation. When you use your right of withdrawal, you are required to keep within the days of cancellation. Allow for some days of office hours, email correspondence to confirm cancellation and bank transfer, to be refunded as stated.
    Discrepancies
    If there are any discrepancies with your order, you must notify us as soon as possible. If we can not deliver the products or services due to circumstances beyond our control, we may offer you equivalent product/service or a different product/service to a lesser or higher price than you have payed for. In the case you accept the alternative product/service, we offer you either a payback or required extra payment, depending on the alternative. If the ordered service can not be offered by NSU as specified you may be refunded.
  6. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
    This Website is provided by NSU on an “as is” and “as available” basis. NSU makes no representations or warranties of any kind, expressed or implied, as to the operation of this Website or the information, content, materials, or products included on this Website. It is expressly agreed by you that your use of this Website is at your sole risk.
    NSU does not warrant that this Website, its servers, or e-mail by us are free of viruses or other harmful components. NSU will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of this Website, including, but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, and consequential damages.
    This policy (and any further rules, polices, or guidelines incorporated by reference) shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of law.
    Laws of certain countries or states do not allow limitations on implied warranties or the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. If these laws apply to you, some or all of the above disclaimers, exclusions, or limitations may not apply to you, and you might have additional rights.
  7. Electronic communications
    When you visit the Website or send emails to us, you are communicating with us electronically. We will communicate with you by email or by posting notices on the Website. For contractual purposes, you consent to receive communications from us electronically and you agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. This condition does not affect your statutory rights.
  8. Alteration of Service or Amendments to the Conditions
    We reserve the right to make changes to our Website, policies, and these Terms and Conditions of Sale at any time. Your usage of the Website and your orders will be subject to the policies and Terms and Conditions of Sale in force at the time that you use the Website or that you order products or services from us.
  9. Events beyond our reasonable control
    NSU will not be held responsible for any delay or failure to comply with our obligations under these conditions if the delay or failure arises from any cause which is beyond our reasonable control. This condition does not affect your statutory rights.
  10. Waiver
    If you breach these Terms and Conditions and we take no action, we will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies in any other situation where you breach these conditions.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Nordiskt Sommaruniversitet, a.k.a. Nordic Summer University (“NSU”, or “we” or “us”) collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User” or “Participant”) of the Nsuweb.org website (“Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by NSU.

  1. Personal identification information
    We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, place an order, subscribe to the newsletter and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, phone number, title, affiliation, place of work/study, position, year of birth or age, special diet, and other personal properties. Users also may be asked for any previous participation in events held by NSU.
    Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.
    Collected data for use with regard to activities such as e.g. the Summer Session will not be kept for more than a year, and thereafter deleted.
    No personal data with regard to statistical information will be submitted to our financiers. They will only be provided the statistical analysis of data, such as how many participated in a certain event or what the gender ratio was.
    Users can at any time ask for their personal collected data through our Site transferred in a suitable readable format (such as text or CSV) from NSU.
  2. Non-personal identification information
    We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.
  3. Web browser cookies
    Our Site may use “cookies” to enhance User experience. User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. User may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.
  4. How we use collected information
    NSU collects and uses Users personal information for the following purposes:
    To provide information to our sponsor/financiers
    Some information you provide may be required as condition from our sponsors. These are at present academic degree, previous participation in NSU and affiliation with Universities of our participants.
    To improve customer service
    Your information helps us to more effectively respond to your customer service requests and support needs.
    To personalize user experience
    We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site.
    To improve our Site
    We continually strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you.
    To process transactions
    We may use the information Users provide about themselves when placing an order only to provide service to that order. These informations include e.g. number and age of family members to be accommodated for at a Summer Session. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service.
    To administer a content, promotion, survey or other Site feature
    To send Users information they agreed to receive about topics we think will be of interest to them.
    To send periodic emails
    The email address Users provide for order processing, will only be used to send them information and updates pertaining to their order. It may also be used to respond to their inquiries, and/or other requests or questions. If User decides to opt-in to our mailing list, they will receive emails that may include organizational news, updates, related product or service information, etc. If at any time the User would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions of each email, newsletter or User may contact us via our Site or by email.
  5. How we protect your information
    We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site.
    Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and its Users when using the payment system, happens over a SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures.
  6. Third party websites
    Users may find advertising or other content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Site. In addition, these sites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which have a link to our Site, is subject to that website’s own terms and policies.
    We do not give information collected through our Site to any commercial third party.
  7. Changes to this privacy policy
    NSU has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.
  8. Your acceptance of these terms
    By using this Site, you accept this policy and the Terms and Conditions of Sale. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use our Site. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes to this policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.
